Prof. Min Gu, Chinese Academy of Sciences "Einstein Professorship" visited SIBET

On 22 June, Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology (SIBET) hold Chinese Academy of Sciences "Einstein Professorship" award ceremony and academic lecture. Tang Yuguo, Vice President of SIBET hosted the ceremony and Zhang Tao, Vice President of SIBET awarded the Chinese Academy of Sciences "Einstein Professorship" Certificate to Professor Min Gu of Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. After the ceremony, Professor Min Gu gave a lecture on Photonics for life science: imaging, manipulation and engineering.

Professor Min Gu is an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, the Australian Institute of Physics, the Optical Society of America, the International Society for Optical Engineering and the Institute of Physics (UK). He is also a Chang Jiang Chair Professor of the Ministry for Education (China). He is currently the Special Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-chancellor (International Research Collaboration) at Swinburne.He gained a PhD degree in optics from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1988. He went to Australia in 1988 and worked as a postdoctoral fellow first at the University of New South Wales, and later at the University of Sydney. In 1991, he was awarded an Australian Research Fellowship of the Australian Research Council at the University of Sydney. He joined Victoria University of Technology in 1995, where he became Professor (Chair) of Optoelectronics and Director of Optical Technology Research Laboratory 1998

The Einstein Professorship Program is a key initiative of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Einstein Professorships will be awarded each year to 20 distinguished international scientists actively working at the frontiers of science and technology, for conducting lecture-tours to China.
