Hu Xinhua, the Professor of Department of Radiation Oncology, Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University and one of the founders of WavMed Technologies Corporation was invited to visit SIBT on March 10. 

During the visit, Professor Hu gave a report to the researchers and students in SIBET which is titled Diffraction imaging study of single biological cells. He introduced his research about a method of diffraction imaging flow cytometry (DIFC) for rapid acquisition of high-contrast diffraction images. The new DIFC method enables determination of image features as the “fingerprints” encoded by the 3D morphological traits for rapid and label-free classification and phenotyping of single cells. 

After the report, Professor Hu also had a meeting with Mr Deng Qiang, the vice president of SIBET about the future cooperation on program research and technology commercialization.
