Professor Juergen Popp, director of Leibniz-Institute of Photonic Technology, visited Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology (SIBET) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) from October 23 to 24, as a CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) Distinguished Scientist.
The professor gave a lecture titled " Translational Biophotonics – Raman spectroscopy and AI a game changer!?", introducing various innovative concepts for bringing biophotonic approaches closer to the clinics with particular emphasis on Raman spectroscopy, as well as his team's progress in this field.
During the visit, he had in-depth discussions with researchers and graduate students at the SIBET and provided valuable suggestions. About Professor Juergen Popp: Professor Juergen Popp is a world leading expert in Biophotonic/optical health technology research covering the complete range from photonic basic research towards translation into clinically applicable methods. Since 2002 Juergen Popp holds a chair for Physical Chemistry at the Friedrich-Schiller University Jena, Germany. Since 2006 he is also the scientific director of the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology, Jena.
